Summer is over
November 27, 2006
Ok… the Summer of Rails has been over for a while, but I’ve been so busy with other projects and the craziness that was RubyConf, I haven’t had a chance to officially acknowledge summer’s end.
On a personal level, it was a great summer. I went to RailsConf, finally learned Rails, shipped my first app (which turned out to be pretty popular), and gave a talk at sd.rb on my experiences.
For everyone else, thanks for participating in this project. The quality and scope of the SoR projects continues to amaze me.
My personal list of favorites goes like this:
- Juggernaut — push server for Flash apps
- Brew Journal — web app for brewing beer (still unlaunched though)
- Myth of Miroha — Rails-based RPG
- Stu.dicio.us — Tools for students
- Ask the Guys — Normal guys go “Dear Abby”
- Street Edibles — Database of ‘urban food sources’ in Portland. (Please add other cities soon!)
- BeloofdisBeloofd — Promise tracker for Dutch politicians
The Summer of Rails will probably be back soon (in one form or another), but until then, I hope everyone continues to be inspired by the potential of Rails.
